Pension Bergblick exterior

The Mayer Family

"We are not a hotel. We are a home. And for a few nights, we'd love it to be yours."

Pension Bergblick was built in 1962 by Johann Mayer — a Sölden carpenter who believed that a good view and a warm welcome were all a traveller really needed. Over six decades later, his granddaughter Maria runs the house with the exact same conviction.

What makes us different isn't the rooms (though we're proud of them) — it's the relationship. When you book with us, you're talking directly to the family. We remember your name, your preferred room, your children's names. We recommend the hike that most guidebooks miss and the restaurant the locals actually eat at.

Genuine warmth

We greet every guest by name. No scripts, no uniforms — just people welcoming people into a home they love.

Simple things done well

Clean rooms, great food, reliable Wi-Fi, and honest prices. We don't chase trends — we do the basics exceptionally.

Rooted in this place

Everything we serve, recommend, and love is from here. We know the best trails, the hidden huts, and where to find the freshest milk.

60 years in the making

1962

Johann builds the house

Johann Mayer, a carpenter from Sölden, builds the Pension with his own hands over two summers. The name "Bergblick" — mountain view — comes from his wife Anna, who never tired of looking at the peaks from the kitchen window.

1978

The first foreign guests

A travel article in a German magazine brings the first non-Austrian guests. Pension Bergblick becomes known for authentic Tirolean hospitality and Anna's legendary apple strudel. Guests start booking the same week every year.

1995

Second generation takes over

Son Klaus and his wife Barbara take over management. They renovate the rooms, adding private bathrooms to each, while preserving the hand-carved wooden furniture Johann made. The Alpine Suite is created for the first time.

2018

Maria brings Bergblick online

Granddaughter Maria, freshly back from a hospitality degree in Innsbruck, builds the first website and introduces direct booking. Occupancy rises 40% in two years. She also introduces the farm-fresh breakfast program.

2024

A new chapter

Complete renovation of the common areas and two rooms, keeping the alpine character but adding modern comfort. Pension Bergblick enters its seventh decade — same family, same values, new energy.
